The Importance of a Durable Binder in Healthcase Uses

Binders, especially in a healthcare setting, are always presented to people, which is why it is prone to wear and tear. Replacing a binder over and over because of poor craftsmanship can be costly. This is why it is important for companies to not just consider a binder's design and content, but also its durability.

There are a number of factors to look for if you want a durable binder.

Protective coating on a binder can make it more durable. If you want to protect your binder from smudges, scratches and fingerprints, consider using aqueous coating, a water-based protective coating. However, this type of coating will not protect a binder from spills. To further protect your binder, you can add yet another level of protection: laminate coating. This is much thicker and is water resistant.

If you plan to use a paper binder, be sure not to use stock that is too thick nor too thin. Paper stock that is too thick can cause the cover to break while stock that is too thin is prone to tears.

Other than the protective coating and the thickness of the paper stock, it is also important to check the quality of binding. A heavy duty binder should be able to withstand constant opening and closing. The edges should also be reinforced to avoid tearing and to prevent the edges from looking ragged. One way to further reinforce a binder's edge is by using clear sleeves.

Finally, the adhesive used to attach the pockets, tabs and other add-ons should be strong so that they will not easily fall off from the binder.
